MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of this association shall be:
– to foster, expand and perpetuate the use of the bow in hunting all legal game
– to cooperate with conservation organizations, Game and Fish Commission and Forestry Services in their efforts for preservation of our natural resources and wildlife
– to promote and encourage all approaches to competitive archery activities with the State of Virginia and
– to generally require the highest standards of sportsman-like conduct in all phases of archery.

Our Story
The idea of a state-wide archery association in Virginia began in January 1941 when members of the Richmond Archers formed the Virginia Archery Association (VAA). The purpose of the VAA was to promote hunting with the bow and arrow with the possibility of encouraging the Game Commission to permit bow hunting on some of the State Game refuges.

These officers have navigated decades of change with a singular focus: ensuring that our strings remain taut and the traditions of archery remain vibrant for the next generation.

The Order of the Golden Feather (OGF) is and always has been a story about service, ideals and integrity. It is also, of course, a story about the organization itself and its individual members, but the three themes of service, ideals and integrity are the constants that hold it all together.
