The VBA is the primary organization in Virginia that represents bowhunters, target archers and the exciting sport of archery. The VBA has clubs throughout the state that offer a variety of ranges and programs open to all members and has worked with the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries (VDGIF) for more than 70 years to enhance archery and hunting in the Commonwealth. We are a partner with the VDGIF in the preparation and presentation of the International Bowhunter Education Program classes held throughout Virginia and responsible for the After School Archery Program in the Commonwealth. The VBA provides instructor training and equipment has a hunting awards program for members that includes plaques and pins. Annually, the VBA sponsors an annual Awards Banquet for hunters and tournament archers and produces a quality magazine call FLIGHT four times a year that focuses on archery in Virginia.

During the year, the VBA:

• hosts five state tournaments each year as well as more than 100 sanctioned club shoots,
• sponsors sponsors a state-wide charity shoot each year (e.g. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Children’s Miracle Network),
• sponsors numerous club shoots for charity (e.g. Hunters4Hungry, March of Dimes),
• offers an annual Conservation Scholarship for an eligible VBA member or immediate family member
• conducts a quarterly meeting of all clubs and VBA officers to plan events and ensure smooth operation of the VBA
• hosts an evolving and dynamic web site to inform all residents about archery activities in Virginia,
• represents the VBA at various sportsmen shows throughout the year
